Once a forest used by Ottoman sultans for target practice, Nişantaşı has changed and developed significantly since then. As one of Istanbul’s most popular and prestigious neighborhoods with its boutiques, art galleries, cafes and restaurants, Nişantaşı is more widely known as a center of fashion, shopping and social life. But this historical area is also home to many historical monuments that are yet to be discovered. Among the foremost historical monuments in Nişantaşı are houses and apartment blocks identified with this neighborhood. Within the scope of the Lotus Nişantaşı project, one of these apartment blocks, which is a typical example of the 19th century architecture, is being renovated to regain its former glory.
